Narrative

John Brooks was possibly the son of William and Johanna, baptized 1810 in Devon, England. He married Christine Ramsay in 1837.

In 1841, there was one boy and one girl under 16 in their household in Lot 67. Three members of the family were born on the Island, and one in England. Children in the PEI Baptismal Index were Margaret (1840), William (1844), and Robert (1850). Children, or grandchildren, on their gravestone were Flora, John, and David.

John Brooks Jr, in Lot 67, was born between 1837 and 1852. David, between 1855 and 1857.

Christie died in 1855.

In 1861, he was the head of a household of 10, all Bible Christians. It looks like he had married again. Somewhere between 4 and 6 of the children would have been born before Christie's death.

John Brooks, a widower, married Flora Ann McInnis, in 1870. This could be the Flora who was living with him in 1881.

In the 1881 census, in Lot 67, John Broks, age 71, born in England, was a married man, wife Flora, age 53, born Scotland. David, age 24, was also in the household, and an Eliza Silliphant, age 26.
