Narrative

Margaret Taylor was born in Scotland. No marriage record was found for her and John Ramsay. The first indication of a relationship between them is 1748, when their son Donald was baptized in Campbelton, Argyll, Scotland. Margaret had children from 1748 to 1766, which indicates a date of birth sometime between 1720 and 1730.

Margaret emigrated to the Island of St. John, current day Prince Edward Island, in 1770 with her husband and sons. There is no record of a daughter accompanying the family. The family lost everything they brought with them when the ship, the Annabella, ran aground. They also discovered that the town of Princetown, shown to them on maps, did not exist. The native peoples showed them the animals and plants they could eat, and where to find them.

There is no record of Margaret's death, or even if she survived the first winter in their new home.
