Born 1848 or 1838 in Sweden
...the passing of Emanuel Johnson on Thursday, July 25th, Ellerslie loses one of its oldest and most respected landmarks. The community was shocked when it was learned he had passed away. The subject of this sketch was born in Sweden in 1838 and came to this country about 50 years ago as a sailor on board a vessel under the late Captain Richards.
He was survived by his widow, two daughters, Nellie and Maisie at home, and Arthur in Massachusetts.
