m. Bartholomew's Mills, 18th inst., by Rev. John Turnbull, John McDOUGALL / Miss Grace MUSHIO, both of Blackville parish (North. Co.) 1844

The names of their children came from a McDougall genealogy: Eliza, Barbara, Duncan, Margaret, Peter, Edward, William, John, Annie, George, James and Mary. Mary was most likely a grand-daughter. The history of Hamilton, Lot 18, PEI said his children were Eliza Ann, Barbara, Duncan, Margaret, Peter, Edward, William, John Edmund, Annie and George Stewart.

They must have returned to the Island not long after their marriage.

In the 1861 census, John McDougald was living in Lot 4, Prince Edward Island. He was 16 years into his lease. There were 2 boys under 5, and 2 between 6 and 15, three girls between 6 and 15. The two boys between 6 and 15 must have been two of Duncan, Peter, or Edward James, none of whom could be found in futher records.

In an 1871 directory, McDougall, John - farmer in Lot 4.

Grace died in 1873. He married Jane McLean from Lot 9.

In the 1881 census, John (60) and his second wife Jane were living in Lot 4 with his three youngest children: John E. (21), Annie L. (17) and George (15). In 1891, only George was home, as well as William's daughter, Mary, age 4.

John left everything to his youngest son George; he left his wife Jane $10/year and her "keep", and asked that his grand-daughter Mary be provided with a home with George.

Between the farms of John McDougall and Douglass Reid, was an Andrew McDougall, aged 46, with wife Mary and children John, Mary, and Sterling. Andrew was the son of a different Duncan McDougall, and probably not directly related to this family.
