Narrative

Angus McFadyen named a son Neil in his will, and this is the most likely Neil McFadyen. On his death record his parents were Angus McFadyen and Margaret McKinnon, both born in Scotland; Neil was buried in Clyde River. There were other marriages between the McFadyens and the Aulds, which makes this Neil a likely candidate.

The book Our West River Heritage said that Angus' son Neil married an Auld. At the residence of the bride's father, on Wednesday the 14th inst by the Rev. John G. Cameron, Mr Neil McFadyen to Charlotte, third daughter of Mr William Auld. The Examiner Jan 2 1871

In census records, he was born on the Island, was a farmer and a Presbyterian.

In the 1891 census, Neil and Charlotte were living with their children Margaret and John. Neil said that both of his parents were born in Scotland.

Neil McFadyen a widower died in Charlottetown in 1921. He had lived in Charlottetown for the last 15 years of his life, but was buried in Clyde River.

The informant was Harry Matheson, a nephew, which confirms that the Neil who died in 1921 was the husband of Charlotte Auld.
