Narrative

Adams Thomas (Climbing the Hill, pp. 4-5, 14-15) Emigrated to Lot 13, P.E.I. in 1851 from
Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England and was employed as
general manager and accountant by his uncle, James Yeo,
Jr. in his Port Hill shipyards. He also built vessels
himself and shipped timber. He was elected to the
Canadian Parliament in 1889. He married Susan Yeo (1852-
1918), daughter of Lawrence and Catherine (McIntosh) Yeo,
20 June 1888, and they had three children.

"Early in the twentieth century James Yeo's youngest son Senator John Yeo still owned several wooden sailing ships...Two of them were the barkentines Kathleen and Daisy, named for the daughters of Thomas Adams, the manager and accountant from Kilkhampton who played a large part in the fortunes of James Yeo."
