Narrative

Annie Laura was not in the PEI Baptismal Index. She was born on the Island between 1877 and 1879. In the 1891 census, she was the daughter of James and Ann Mann. She is not mentioned in the Irishtown/Burlington history, nor is she with the family in the 1901 census; however, there were a few visits noted in the local paper of Mrs. John McCormack from Kansas City to her parents in Irishtown, and she was named in her sister Jannet's obituary in 1913. She was not named in her mother's obituary.

According to Jannett's obituary and the book of graves/local history kept at Geddie Memorial Church, Laura married John MacCormic from Kansas City, and was living in there at the time of her sister's death.

I was unable to find Laura Annie in the 1900 US census. She was next found with her husband, a railway engineer, in New Jersey in the 1910 US census. She said she had been married for four years and had no children. John Mccormack had a previous marriage and two daughters before his marriage to Laura.

Laura Ann MacCormack, daughter of James Mann and Ann "McCloud", died in Kansas City in 1918 as a result of the Spanish Flu. Her husband's name was given as John W. MacCormack. She was buried in Cohasset Massachusetts, and her name was inscribed on her in-law's gravestone.

There was a John W. MacCormack, born 1881 (actually 1875) in Massachusetts, a widower living alone in Kansas City Missouri in the 1920 Census. He was a railway engineer. In the 1930 US census he was living with his wife Gertie (Gretta Crummer Slaymaker) and two daughters, Gretchen (18) and Sarah (2). They were married in 1921 in Kansas City (the daughter Gretchen was probably Gretta's daughter from her first marriage, and not Annie Laura's daughter).
