Flora McArthur Ellis' parents were Dugald and Betsy, according to her death certificate. A daughter Flora was not listed with the children of Dugald and Betsey in Pathways to the Present (page 292). When Elizabeth McArthur married James Phillips, the newspaper called her the only daughter of Dugald.

The Flora McArthur who married John Ellis was from Lot 16, and her husband from Lot 12. Witnesses were Alexander McDougall and John Campbell.

John and Flora were in Boston, Massachusetts in 1880. Their daughter Agnes and her family were the next entry on the 1880 census. Agnes said she emigrated in 1870 on another census form.

On February 20th at the residence of her son in law, James Brander in East Boston, Flora, the wife of John Ellis formerly of PEI where she has many friends; also in East Boston she was much esteemed and respected by all who knew her for the last ten years of her life. She leaves a husband and 12 children to mourn the loss of an affectionate wife and loving mother. Her end was peace. There were present at her funeral 5 sons and 5 daughters, the other two daughters could not be there at the time as one resides in Canada and the other on PEI.
