Narrative

Malcolm was a nephew of John Ramsay, and came to PEI with that family from Scotland on the Annabella. Charles Ramsay's short account of the family said that some four of the children brought to Prince Edward Island by John Ramsay were under 10 years of age, therefore it is assumed that Malcolm and his brother Edward were born around 1758-1761.

Names of his children and his wife came from three sources, the Margate/Princetown Church records, entry for the Widow Ramsay, Indian River; Malcolm's will; and a land document signed after his son Edward's death.

The will of Malcolm Ramsay, Indian River named his wife Ann, sons Edward, Charles, Malcolm; daughters Barbara and Jannet (other than Malcolm, only the youngest children were named). Son Malcolm and son-in-law Donald McGougan were executors. Will proved on 22 June 1826.

Son Edward died before 1846 without a will, and the following signed an indenture with his mother, the widowed Ann:
Malcolm Ramsay
Dougald McArthur and Elizabeth McArthur
Donald McGougan and Ellen McGougan
James Ramsay
Robert and Penelope Stewart
John and Barbara Stewart
Flora and Alex McKillock
Alex and Jane Hawey (Harvey)
