Eliza was born in New Brunswick or PEI, around 1845. She died at age 92, according to her obituary, so her date of birth could have been a bit earlier than she admitted on census records.

According to one Mcdougall family tree, Eliza died before her father. According to another, she went to the States sometime after 1871, and perhaps as early as 1868.

I haven't been able to confirm the marriage of Thomas and Eliza - it wasn't in PEI, NB, or Massachusetts records. Eliza said she and Thomas had been married for 28 years on the 1900 US census form, and 35 on the 1910 form. In the 1930 US census, Eliza said she had been married at age 23 (around 1868). It's possible Eliza went out to the Western US with one of her brothers and married there - Thomas said he was born in Wisconsin.

On US census forms from 1900 to 1930, Eliza was living in Revere, Massachusetts, first with her husband Thomas and after his death with a niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Thomas Coughlin.

In the 1920 US census, Eliza's nephew Thomas Powers Coughlin was the head of household. Eliza was described as his aunt. Also in the household were John E. and Margaret (Powers) Coughlin, and his 20 year old sister Elizabeth. John was born in Chatham, New Brunswick.

They lived at 284 Mountain Avenue in Revere Massachusetts.

George Stewart McDougall from Campbelltown PEI went to the States about 1923, giving his sister, Mrs. Eliza Coughlin in Revere Mass., as his contact.

Thomas died around 1914 - there were two men of this name who died in Boston Mass. in 1912 and 1914, but none who died in Revere. Up until 1914, Thomas was listed in the Mass. City Directory, but by 1916, the head of household was Mrs. Eliza Coughlin.

There is a Mass. Death Index record for an Eliza Coughlin, maiden name McDougall, who died in Boston in 1936.
