See John Cousins' book on the first settlers in New London, "New London the Lost Dream". The Adams family - parents and 5 children - were on Benjamin Chappell's list of inhabitants in New London, PEI 1775. Other lists, compiled by John Cousins, say they were John Adams, Sarah (Harrison) Adams, Ann, Mary, Thomas, William, Catherine, and John jr.

John Adams and Joseph Smith were brothers-in-law, through their marriages to Mary and Elizabeth Wright.
