On his census form in 1881, Albert E. was a farmer, age 35 and born in PEI. He stated that both of his parents had been born in New Brunswick. In addition to his wife (name given as Christyan) and his mother, children were Maggie (7), Janet (5), Edward (3), and Gertrude (1).

In the 1891 census, Albert and Christiana (24) were living in Lot 13. Their children were Maggie A. (7), Janet (5), Edward (3), and Gertrude (1). Albert's mother Elizabeth, age 65 and a widow, was living with her son and his family.

In Enmore, PEI January 8 Albert E. McArthur age 74 leaving a widow (Nee Christine MacDonald), four sons, three daughters and two sisters. His obituary listed: Frederick of Victoria West, Russell and Gordon of Enmore and Burns at home; three daughters Mrs. D. D. McDonald, Shamrock, Mrs.Forest Phillips of Mount Royal, and Mrs. Ramsay of Tyne Valley; two sisters, Mrs. M. D. McLeod of Summerside and Mrs. Ewen Campbell of Charlottetown. One daughter, Mrs. John Campbell, Victoria West, predeceased him four years ago.
