Notes

Note

From census records, Archibald McFadyen was born on Prince Edward Island in 1828. No baptismal record was found. He was named as a son in the will of Angus McFadyen, but the name of his mother was not recorded.

Archibald married Mary Anne Beer from a neighbouring farm on January 6 1853.

Eight children were recorded as being baptized in St. Paul's Church of England in Charlottetown. The first daughter was named Jane Elizabeth, possibly after both grandmothers. Two later daughters were also called Elizabeth - another indication that this might have been the name of Archibald's mother.

In the 1891 census, Archibald said that both of his parents had been born in Scotland. His father had emigrated in 1808, before he was born. The family home was one story with 5 rooms. Archibald said he could read and write.

In his own will, Archibald left the farm to his son John. To daughter Margaret Auld, 5 dollars To each of the remaining children, $10.00: Hannah Maria Mitchell, Rebeca Ellen Auld, Elizabeth Mann and Robertson McFadyen. The will was proved on the 4th day of January 1901.

"At Kingston, Lot 31, on December 12th 1900, Archibald McFadyen, aged 72. Funeral takes place on Saturday, Dec. 15th, to Brookfield Cemetery."
