Narrative

Son of Alexander McArthur and Christy Ramsay.

John McArthur was said to have married twice, first wife Catherine Mollison, but the only marriage found in PEI records was to Agnes Millar Mollison, a widow, in 1865. (note that Agnes' married name was Mollison) John's status wasn't given on the marriage record, but he was a bachelor from Lot 11 in 1865 on the marriage bond.

There was no household in Prince County headed by a John McArthur in 1861, another indication that he did not have his own household at that time.

In the 1881 census John and Agnes were in Lot 12, no children. Agnes had emigrated to the Island with three children from her first marriage.

Agnes died in 1885 - John was buried near his brother James.
