My Family Tree

There were two Daniel Hornes from PEI, and at least one from Nova Scotia. His date of birth came from the 1901 census, when he was with his family on the Island. Daniel fell from a freight train in Massachusetts, and suffered from hip problems afterwards, according to the Guardian.

In 1912, Daniel E Horne from PEI, parents James and Rachel, married Hazel Humphrey in New York. They had a son Daniel Eldon. Daniel Horne, born Elmsdale, PEI on 8 Oct, filled out a WW1 registration form in Massachusetts. He was married with a wife and one child; he was described as being tall with dark hair and blue eyes.

Daniel filled out a form to start the naturalization process in 1919. At that time he was living in Rhode Island. He and Hazel were there in 1920, with son Daniel, age 7. In the 1925 Rhode Island census, they also had a daughter Phyllis.

In 1930, Daniel was living in Vermont with his son and daughter. He was married, but Hazel was not living with them. Daniel was not working, but they had boarders; his son was an aviator for a fuel company.

The Daniel Horne who died in Ontario had the right parent's names on the death record. His wife's name was Irene.

Hazel and Phyllis were living in New York in 1940.
