Newspaper Carleton Sentinel
The P.E. Islander of Friday 10th inst. states that Wm. BIRCH of Lot 13 in that island had followed no less than four of his children to the grave since the preceeding Friday and a fifth was thought to be at the point of death. The youngest was six years old, the eldest, a fine girl of 18. The disease was scarlet fever.
His brother Thomas made the coffins for William and Mary's children.
