Robina was not in the PEI Baptismal Index. On the record for her second marriage, to John Tauton, Robina said she was born in Bideford, the daughter of Edward T. and Mary Ellis. There was no married man named Edward Ellis in the 1861 census, and no marriage record for an Edward Ellis before her birth. There were no children of Edward Ellis and wife Mary in the PEI Baptismal Index.

Was Robina born to an Edward Ellis and Mary before his marriage to someone else?

Her obituary said she was Robina Fillow Tanton, born in Bideford. She and her first husband Henry J. Folland had lived in Bideford and Northam. It did not give the names of her parents, or any brothers and sisters. Her second husband was John Tanton.

Marriage Bond:
Henry J. Folland of Bideford, clerk, and Archibald Ellis of PortHill signed the bond on 27 May 1875 for the marriage of Henry J. Folland (B) and Rubina J. Ellis (S) of Bideford.

After Henry's death, she and her five daughters and two sons moved to the States. Robina was known for her hospitality.

Surviving daughter were Mrs. George Warren, Neponset, Mass.
