Claude [Brookins], a reservist with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps, was one of three killed in September 1944 when a Bren gun carrier toppled over Beaton's Bridge. Sgt. Daniel Carrfield Ramsay and Trooper Wallace Dennis of O'Leary also went down with the vehicle and drowned.
