Narrative

A daughter Harriet was mentioned in the History of Hamilton. This is likely the daughter baptized as Jean H in 1844. Daughter Minnie said her mother's name was Harriet Jane.

Harriet Mc Lean married Charles Turner on 17 May 1877 in Prince Edward Island. Mrs. George Turner was a witness, along with Laughlin McNevin. The minister was Henry Crawford. There were no children for them in the PEI Baptismal Index.

In the 1881 census, Charles, age 30, and Harriet, age 25, were in Lot 13 with two children, Mary Margaret age 3 and Eileen, age 1. The history of Brae adds Hugh and Margaret, but these children were not in census records.

In the 1891 census, Harriet Turner, age 45, said her father was born in Scotland and her mother on the Island. Charles, age 40, and Harriet had three children, Minnie 13, Irene, 11 and George age 9. Charles was a Methodist and a farmer, and Harriet was a Presbyterian.

Minnie Turner, born Jan 27 1878, was a lodger with Henry Turner in Lot 6 in the 1901 census.

In 1901, Harriet was living with her married daughter, Irene, under the name Mcfarlane:
