From Stanley Bridge - Hub of the Universe -
PICKERING WILLIAM III (1819 - Oct. 16, 1887) son of James and Margaret Marks Pickering of Clinton.
William III is a grandson of William I of Kirkham Farm.
m. 1 Ann Somers of New London. They had one son named William (IV) (1840-1906)
William III m. 2 Jane Fyfe (1826 - June 9, 1844) sixth child of William and Jean Arthur Fyfe
of Stanley Bridge.
William Pickering III and Jane moved from Clinton and settled in Stanley Bridge. Here
William III and Jane Fyfe Pickering took over almost 100 acres of his grandfather's farm.
William's father, James, gave his share of William Fs property to William III and his wife Jane.
William and Jane Fyfe Pickering had twelve children:
1. William V (1840-1906) son of William and Ann Somers Pickering
m. July 10, 1861 to Caroline Tanton (St. Eleanor's) daughter of George and Mary
Wood Tanton, St. Eleanor's. Here, William IV was a carriage builder and black-
smith.
2. Harriet (1846-1917) m. Robert Heaney (Clinton)
3. Mary Jane (1848-1922) m. July 12, 1866 to John Mayne, Emerald
4. James (1850-1922) m. 1872 to Catherine McIntosh (1847-1939) of Springton. They
moved to his grandfather Pickering's Stonehouse in Clinton. James and Catherine
had four children: Ernest, Alma, Eva and Ruth. Ernest continued to farm the Clinton
property and married Edna Bertram.They had three children:

1. Irene m. Blois MacEwen and lived in Stanley Bridge
2. George m. Rena Woodside - farmed the Pickering property and lived in the
Stonehouse (Clinton)
3. Katherine m. Earl Taylor - Malpeque
5. Jemima (1852-1934) m. Thomas Heaney
6. David Albert (1854-1922) m. 1. 1879 to Kezia Ford (1856-1910)
m. 2. 1911 to Edith Stright (1873-1964)
David lived for a time in Clinton and then moved to Summerside where he owned
and operated a Smoothing Iron Building which manufactured wooden household
items such as ironing boards and clothes racks. He became a partner with R.T.
Morris (plumbing) and was also a boat builder.
7. Robert Alex b. 1856 died young.
8. William Charles (1858-1934) m. 1884 to Mary MacKinnon (1859-1939). They
emigrated to Minnesota and had five children.

11. Rebecca Lydia (1864-1888) m. Sept. 9, 1885 to Robert Bagnall (Hazel Grove)

12. John Anderson Wesley b. 1867 m. 1887 to Eliza Caroline Tanton b. 1863. She
was a sister of Flora Tanton Pickering. They had three children: Walter, Herbert,
Stanley and lived in Boston.
13. Edith Salina (1870-1898) m. 1889 to Robert Anderson Bagnall, Hazel Grove.
They had two children: Merton and Lydia.
About a month before William died, he wrote a will dividing his most prized possessions to his
children thusly: Son-David Albert got a fur coat - daughter Mary Jane a feather bed - daughter
Jemima received a chest of drawers, while Edith, who was still at home, $200.00; son, John
Wesley, got the stock and farm implements, while Hugh Theodore received the farm itself.

William was recorded as being a bachelor when he married Jane Fyfe in 1844 by license, with David and Anthony Pickering and Alexander Fyfe as 3 of the four witnesses. Minister was C. Birch Bagster, JP. I didn't see an earlier marriage for William in the PEI Marriage Registers.
