Dyment, David Henry 1a
Narrative
Son of John Dyment and Catherine Murray.
According to his obituary in the newspaper Wenatchee World in 1978, David Henry Dyment died at the age of 81 in East Wenatchee. He had been born in Richmond, PEI on January 19 1897. In 1901, his family moved to Edwall, and then to Sheehan Flat in Washington State.
David served with the United States Army in the first world war.
Although there were two marriages for David Henry listed in the Washington State Digital Archives, to Florence Warren in 1930 and to May Smith in 1945 in Chelan, Washington, only his first marriage was listed in his obituary. He said he was divorced when he married May in 1945.
David Henry worked in Wenatchee, then moved to the coast for several years. It is possible he was the David Dyment, age 59 in 1951, who was committed to an institution after the beating death of a brother-in-law, Newton J. Webber.
In 1975, he moved back to East Wenatchee where he lived with a daughter.
Florence Warren-Dyment was not buried with David. According to the book John Brownfield, 1791-1851 and descendants by Eva Brownfield Whitaker (1989) found on Google Books, David worked on farms at harvest time and consequently, was often away from home. Florence was said to have been committed to a state hospital in 1939; however, she was not in an institution in the 1940 US census.
David and Florence were living in Oregon where their two older children were born, and then moved back to Washington State. Their marriage seems to have ended in divorce, and in the 1940 census, two Dyment children were living with David: Carol Marie (b. Oregon) and Roger F. (b. Washington) and two with Florence: (Kenneth ( b. Oregon) and Fern ( b. Washington)). David's mother Catherine was also in his household in 1940. Only one sister, Maria, was living at the time of his death.
In 1951, a social item in the newspaper said that a Mrs. Dave Dyment was visiting Carol and Roger Dyment.
