The Islander – Oct 5, 1855 Died.
At Princetown Royalty, on Monday, 1st October, after an illness of nearly two years, Lauchlin McKendrie, aged 78 years.

In his will, left most of his property to his nephew, Hew McKendrick , his brother Malcolm’s son, and gave his niece Penelopy McKay part of the house and land.

Description In 1792, the petitioner's father purchased Pasture Lots 74 and 75 in Prince Town Royalty supposing them to be situated near each other as Lot 74 is bounded on the North by Lot 73. Under this impression, his father cleared and cultivated the Lots and erected a dwelling house in which he resided until his death and which the petitioner, together with his mother, has since occupied under the same impression until a Survey of the Royalty in 1823. According to this survey, Lot 75 is situated upwards of a mile from that which the petitioner is in possession of. Although the survey is not yet complete, the petitioner understands that Clear Lallow, the Market Clerk in Charlotte Town, has obtained a License of Occupation for Lot 288 and wishes to obtain a grant for the same without making any improvements to the land. Petitioner requests that Council withhold the grant to Mr. Lallow as the petitioner is still in possession of the said Lot
