Narrative
Jannet Humphrey was either born in Scotland, or in PEI just after her parents' arrival, which was possibly around 1832. She had a daughter Ellen Jane sometime between 1862-1866. Jannet Humphrey from Margate, Lot 19, married George Fiddler, a bachelor from Sunbury County New Brunswick, in Summerside on 28 December 1865. George was born in England, and may have been part of the John Fiddler family that came from England to PEI and then moved to Sunbury County, New Brunswick. George signed the marriage bond with an X, his mark. John Caldwill from New London was the co-signer of the bond.

After their marriage, Jannet and George moved to Sunbury County, New Brunswick, where George was farming. She and George had a daughter, Mary, who, according to census records, was quite profoundly disabled. I don't know if Jannet took her daughter Ellen Jane with her when she married. She died not long after the birth of this second daughter, in 1870.
Her daughter Ellen Jane was not in the household of George Fiddler in the 1871 New Brunswick census; Janie was raised by her brother Charles, and her daughter Mary was raised by her husband and his second wife Jane Williams.
According to a Williams family tree, George's second wife, Jane Williams, also had had a child before her marriage to George. He would seem to have been a very accepting person for his day.
