When Andrew died in 1902, his obituary said "A widow and five children, one brother, Mr. John Johnston, Long River, and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Bagnall, New Glasgow, and Mrs. (Rev.) W. A. Mason, Nova Scotia, survive him."
