My Family Tree

At Trout River, Lot 13, on the 16th ult., by the Rev. John M. McLeod, Mr. John Ramsay, Lot 11, to Miss Sarah Ann McArthur. The Islander 1 April 1859

The family was in Lot 11 for the 1881 census with the married couple, John Ramsay 49, and Sarah Jane 44; children Selina 21 Donald 19, Elizabeth 17 Hugh 14 Robert 11 Norman 9 Crawford 6 Eleanor 4 and Annie 1.

John died in 1885.

In 1886, Sarah and her children emigrated to the United States. There are marriage records in the US for Norman, Crawford, Robert, Elizabeth and Annie.

In 1900 Sarah was living with two of her daughters, Ella and Anna in Cambridge, MA. She did not give the number of years married, but said she had had 9 children, all living.

In 1910, Sarah and her daughter Elizabeth Gamble were living with Ella in Massachusetts.

Sarah, age 85 and a widow, was living with her daughter Annie in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in the 1920 US census. She died in Pawtucket 30 March 1922.
