Ramsay, Michael

Birth Name Ramsay, Michael
Gender male
Age at Death about 70 years, 1 month, 21 days

Narrative

NO PROOF THAT HE BELONGS WITH THIS FAMILY

Unable to find a record for Michael that had his parents names, but if he was a ship builder in Lot 11, he could be a descendant of Donald Ramsay and Mary McMillan, perhaps the son of their son Michael. This Michael not covered in the book Along the North Shore by J. Clinton Morrison Jr.

The Examiner, Nov. 10, 1856:
Launched: October 25, from the shipyard of Mr. Michael Ramsay, Lot 11, Brig Conqueror for Messrs. Read and Lefurgey.

Michael married Ann McArthur in 1845. There was one PEI Baptismal record that could be for their daughter Mary.

Michael, a butcher, and Ann were in Ontario in 1861. Living with them were Mary (16), Nancy (13), Malcum (12), James (11), Lucretia (10), Alpheus (8), Zenes (5), Elizabeth (4), and Levi (1). Everyone was born on the Island, except for Elizabeth and Levi. The child named Malcum or Marian was a male on this census, and there was also a son Levi, age 1 on his next birthday.

In 1871, Marion was a female, age 22, and Sarah was age 11. No Levi.

There are checkmarks next to Elizabeth and Sarah that they were married in the past 12 months, but this must be a mistake. There was also an indication that they were going to school.
