ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL., who conducts a successful business as a merchant tailor at New London, Queen's county, was born in Lot 20, this Island, on August 10, 1853, and is a son of James and Isabella (Johnston) Campbell. The father was born at Irish-town, Lot 20, Prince Edward Island, in 1813, and died in 1887. He was the father of eight children, namely: William, Charity, John, Archibald, Alex, Caroline, Mary J. and James A. The subject of this sketch was reared under the parental roof and secured his education in the district schools. of his neighborhood. His first active employment was at the tailor trade in Summerside, where he worked four years and then followed the same pursuit for some time at Graham Roads. On January 21, 1879, Mr. Campbell was united in marriage to Miss Barbara McKay,
eldest daughter of Adam and Isabella (Sutherland) McKay. The McKays and Sutherlands were natives of Sutherland-shire, Scotland, and emigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1815, settling at Stanley Bridge.

There are left to mourn a sorrowing widow and two brothers, Mr. Alexander Campbell, J. P., of Summerside, and Mr. William Campbell of Graham’s Road.
