In 1899, Josephine Mugridge, daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Ellis) married Harry William Sanders in Watertown, Massachusetts. He was divorced, she said it was her first marriage.

In the 1901 census, Josephine Sanders, born April 1872 in PEI, was married to H W Sanders of Cape Breton. Two of her sisters were also in the household, Maud and Georgina Brown from PEI.
