Thomas A. Woodside married Katherine Mary Schadt in 1881. He was a bookbinder, and said he lived in Missouri at the time of his marriage. His place of birth was Baltimore, Missouri, which was translated as Baltimore, Maryland on later census records.

Mary's obituary said that Thomas died in 1906, but they were in the 1910 US census in New Orleans with their daughter Mary Leah Norris Woodside and Richard E. Trever, age 14, called a nephew and later a son. Thomas died in New Orleans in 1912.

Mary returned to Iowa, and was listed in a 1918 Davenport city directory as the widow of Thomas A.
