A son named Alexander was not named in the administration papers for the estate of Donald Smith in 1833.
He is supposed to have married Margaret ? and Caroline Lyle. Caroline was much younger, and he was a bachelor when they married in 1864 - she remarried in 1874. This Alexander seems to be a bit too old to have been Caroline's first husband.
