In the 1911 census, Joanna was living with her son John. She gave her status as married. Johanna was a widow when she died (Nova Scotia Vital Stats, online) in Stellarton, where she had been living for the three previous years. Information on her death certificate was provided by her daughter.
In the PEI baptismal Index, Johanna's date of birth was 12 July 1848, which would make her 6 years older than William Mcdougall, and 40 when her last child was born.
