Narrative

Hannah Maria McFadyen was born April 12 1858, daughter of Archibald McFadyen and Mary Ann Beer. She and James Auld were witnesses at her sister Margaret's marriage on June 12 1877, and she and her husband were witnesses at the marriage of another sister in 1887.

The marriage bond for James Mitchell, farmer of Lot 31, and Anna Maria McFadyen of Bannockburn Lot 31 was dated 2 April 1886. Francis Hyde, who was married to a McFadyen, was the bond co-signer.

Anna Maria McFadyen of Bannockburn married 10th inst James Mitchell of North Wiltshire at New Haven. (Presbyterian Witness, 24 April 1886), by Rev. Grant.

Hannah gave her religious affiliation as Church of England (1881 census), Presbyterian (1891 census) and Methodist (1901); James Mitchell was Methodist.

Hannah and James had two children, a son who died as an infant and their daughter Hazel Mary, who married Mackieson Vickerson.

Mrs. James Mitchell died November 17 1944 in Cornwall at age 84, buried at Clyde River. Information was supplied by her daughter, Mrs. Mack Vickerson. (PEI Archives, Master Names Index) Her obituary only named two sisters, Elizabeth and Rebecca, but not her brother Robertson.
