Is he the same son as the Alexander McLean from Lot 9 who married Ann McQuarrie in 1869? They had two children, a son, Franklin (?) and a daughter Minnie. Perhaps the first son named Alexander died young, and this is the Alexander who died in 1877.

Or is he John Alexander McLean, son of John and Miriam of Lot 14, not this John, and the mother's name is a mistake?

Note that when John McLean died in 1895, he was survived only by sisters, no brothers.
