Note

James Mann was born on May 20, 1831 in Prince Edward Island, the son of William and Sarah Mann. He was the second son, named for William's father.

James Mann, from Lot 20, married Ann McLeod, daughter of Murdock MacLeod and Ann Hardy of Park Corner, on March 24 1870. On Thursday the 24th inst., by the Rev. A. Cameron, Mr. James Mann, Lot 20, to Miss Ann McLeod, of Park corner. (The Islander April 1 1870).

They had five children: Janet J. (Jennie or Jeanette), Hannah Brace (after James' sister Hannah Mann Brace), Annie, Lucy Jane, and William.

James Mann was listed in the index of the Land Commissioner's report dated 1870, with 100 acres in Lot 20. According to the 1891 census, James and Ann were living in a 2 story wood-frame house with 9 rooms. James indicated that his parents had been born in Scotland and England.

By 1901, only William was living at home with his parents. Jennie stayed in the area, but Hannah, Annie and Lucy Jane went to the United States. Annie married a Mr. McCormack from Kansas City. Lucy married James Appley and lived in Florida. Hannah married W. Scott Brown and lived in New York.

"Her many friends around Sea View sympathize with Mrs. James Mann of irishtown in the death of her husband Mr. James Mann who was 83 years old. He was buried in the New London cemetery and leaves one son William on the homestead and three married daughters in the United States." Charlottetown Guardian 30 November 1914 page 8

Ann (Annie) McLeod was born in 1841. She died in 1922 at the age of 92 years. They were buried in Geddie Memorial graveyard.
