ASSUMPTIONS MADE! Possibly the son of Malcolm Ramsay and Ann McIntosh.
I believe their son John married Janet Baker in 1875 and went to Colorado. The local history Climbing the Hill said that Malcolm and Anne (McIntosh) had one son, John, and lived in Summerside. This was where John Ramsay was living when he married Janet Baker in 1875.

Witnesses were Alexander M Clark and John McKinnon, minister Robert Patterson.
In 1880, he was a widower living in Boulder, Colorado with his brother-in-law, Peter Clark. His daughter Janett (Jeanette) Ramsey was age 4. In 1885, he said that both of his parents were born on the Island.
He married a widow, Charlotte Kiteley, in 1890.

Charlotte and her first husband John had three children by 1880 - Leona, Ralph and Kate. In 1900, Charlotte said 3 children, 3 living but there were no children in the Ramsay household. John Ramsay was a grocer. In 1910, John and Charlotte had been married for 20 years. She had had 5 children, 4 living.
After Charlotte's death, John lived with step-daughter Kate, and then with Leona. In 1940, he was age 92.
Daughter Mrs Harry Andrew came to visit in 1921 - her daughter Helen was graduating from the Longmont hospital training school for nurses.
Find a Grave has John and his first wife, Jeanet S. Ramsay, died 1877.
