Notes
Note
William Havelock was born in Prince Edward Island in June 1861, the son of Henry Scott Dyment and Matilda S. Hardy; the transcribed entry in PEI Baptismal Index says 1860, but since he was not baptized until 1864, it is possible a mistake was made. It makes more sense that he was born after his parents' marriage.
In 1881, William may have been living with his Hardy relatives in Lot 3. William moved to the United States in 1884, and in 1891 he married another Islander, Ellen Ellis Ramsay (1867-1939), daughter of Robert and Sarah (Ellis) Ramsay, in Massachusetts. Their marriage was announced in the Cambridge Tribune, Volume XIV, Number 11, 23 May 1891, of William H. Dymont to Ella F. Ramsay, both of Cambridge.
In the 1900 US census, the couple and their two children were living in Waltham City, Middlesex, Massachusetts. William was a carpenter and worked on the railroad. The family was living in Sacremento, California by 1901, and by 1910, with sons Frank and Melbourne, as well as Ellen's niece Sarah Ramsay. William was a foreman in a railroad shop.
In 1914 when his mother died in Washington State, the family delayed the funeral to give him time to travel from California.
William died in Yuma, Arizona in 1919, at the age of 58. Three children were listed in his obituary, Frank, Melborne and Sadie. Sadie was likely Sarah Ramsay, Ellen Ramsay Dyment's niece.
Ellen left Arizona around 1920. In 1920, son Frank was married and living in Sacremento. In 1930, Ellen was living with Frank and his family in Sacramento. Ellen died in California in 1939.
