Edgar's date of birth, from his baptismal record, was 9 Oct 1859, the son of Charles Ramsay and Rebecca Sobey. In the 1871 census, he was age 9.

Although the date of birth of Edgar B. Ramsay in Texas does not match this - it was 14 Jan 1862 - he seems to be the right Edgar. He was born on Prince Edward Island. In 1900, Charles Ramsay, born August 1875, was a nephew in his household - this is the son of George William Ramsay. When Roland Ramsay died, he was survived by a brother "Edward" in Texas.
