EFFA MACDONALD was born 31 January 1876, and died 1932. She married ANDREW STEWART around 1900. He was born 1867 and died 1936.

Effa became ill in January 1932, and the Guardian followed the progress of her illness. "Mrs. Andrew Stewart of West Point is a patient in the Prince County Hospital. She was taken suddenly ill during the recent bad snow storm and it was several hours before the doctor could reach her owing to the drifts." Her daughters Daisy and Edna were called home from Brookline, Massachusetts when she entered the Prince County Hospital for a serious operation.

DOING NICELY-Mrs. Andrew Stewart of West Cape, who was operated on, on Friday at the Prince County Hospital, is making satisfactory progress. (Guardian January 1932)

"Miss McQuarrie, R. N. of Hebron has returned to her home, after spending some time at the home of Mrs. Andrew Stewart, West Point, who is much improved in health." Guardian April 1932

When Effa died on June 4th, 1932, at West Point, she left her husband Andrew Stewart, two daughters, Daisy and Edna, one son, William, and three grandchildren. (obituary published in the Guardian, June 18, 1932, page 3.

Effa had been an active member of the local Woman's Institute, along with her sisters and sisters-in-law. The Secretary of her institute was instructed to send letters of sympathy to the bereaved relatives of the late Mrs. Andrew Stewart, a former Presldent for a number of years, and an ardent co-worker. Much sorrow was expressed by the members, for the loss to the Institute of one of its most valued members.

"The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to Mr. Andrew Stewart and family of West Point in the death of Mrs. Stewart, which occurred on June 4 after a lingering illness, which was borne with unusual patience and Christian fortitude. Interment was on June 8 at the Presbyterian cemetery, West Point, with Rev. John Sterling..."

Mrs. Andrew Stewart - There passed to her eternal rest on June 4 at West Point, Effa, beloved wife of Andrew Stewart, aged 56 years, after a lingering illness. There are left to cherish the memory of a loving wife and mother, a sorrowing husband and two daughters Daisy and Edna and three grand-children. The deceased was the second daughter of Mr. William McDonald, retired light-keeper where she spent her early years from infancy to her marriage there 32 years ago.

Four sisters; Mrs. (Capt) S, Smith, West Point; Mrs. B. B. Dumville, West Cape; Mrs. Charles McWilliams of Errol, NH; Mrs. Gerald Currie of Irma Alberta; two brothers, Stanley and John McDonald West Point.

The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery near those of her mother, the late Mrs. William Mcdonald (nee Maria Dyment), who pre-deceased her many years before.
