Note
I am making the assumption that John was the son of John Ramsay, shipbuilder, and Coy McKay. His death record said his parents were John and Catherine - it might have been assumed that Coy was a short form of Catherine. And he was from Summerside. Donald Ramsay named a son Major, perhaps after his younger brother.
However, a son named Major was not in John Ramsay's will.
Major was in Summerside in 1864 - - 1864 Hutchinson Directory.

The death record for Major Ramsey said his parents were John and Catherine.
At Mount Auburn, Cambridge, Mass on Saturday March 3rd after a long illness of consumption Major Ramsay formerly of Summerside aged 37 years. He leaves a wife and two childen and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss. He died in the full assurance of a blessed immortality. Examiner Saturday March 24, 1883
