Ethel's parents said she was born on Prince Edward Island, where they were living in 1901, in Lot 12. Ethel said she was born in Massachusetts on her marriage record and on later census records.

THE JOLLY NINE

Thursday evening nine musically inclined young ladies met at the home of Ethel M. Campbell. 115 Elm street, and organized as "The Jolly Nine." , The officers chosen are; President, Grace Cox; vice president, Ethel M. Campbell; secretary, Esther Claison; treasurer, Eleanor Campbell. The other members are Mildred Fleming, Sadie Gallagher, Hose and Ruth Thayer and Hildah Penny. Each member has to be able and willing to play on some instrument or sing. The club purposes holding an entertainment every Tuesday evening during the fall and winter. The club, which, was organized on the birth anniversary of the vice president, will probably entertain its gentlemen friends on special occasions. Cambridge Chronicle, 3 October 1914
