Note

Betsy is generally placed in the family of Malcolm Ramsay and Anne McNeill. The naming of two of her first children Flora and Edward, and not having a son named Malcolm makes me wonder about this. Is it possible that Betsy belongs with Malcolm's brother Edward's family?

However, in spite of her not following the traditional naming patterns of the day, Elizabeth and Dougald McArthur signed an indenture with the rest of the Ramsay family after the death of her brother Edward about 1846.

At Lot 14, on Thursday April 30th after a long illness endured with submission to the will of her heavenly father, and with a well-grounded hope through Christ, Mrs McArthur aged 82 years, relict of the late Mr. Dugald McArthur. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church and is deeply regretted by a large circle of relatives and friends. Summerside Journal May 21 1868 page 3; also in the Examiner 18 May 1868 pg 3
