Archibald was the son of David Johnstone and Janet McMurdo of Long River.

There was a marriage between Archibald and Olivia Hockin:

Although the marriage record says Catherine Johnson, Ewen [Alexander] MacDonald Howatt, sometimes called Ewen Alexander Johnstone on census records, said on a social security application that his parents were Thomas Howatt and Catherine McDonald. The marriage bond says she was Catherine Howatt, and there was a PEI Marriage registration for Catherine McDonald and Thomas Howatt.

According to the History of Long River, David Johnstone's son Archibald went to Seattle. There was an Archibald Johnstone, from PEI, who had two sons, John Hubbard and Robert C., in Massachusetts. His wife Catherine was from New Brunswick; she had two children from her previous marriage, Minnie and Ewen Alexander McDonald Howatt. The family went from Massachusetts to Minnesota - in Aldrich, Wadena, Minnesota in 1880, and Nideros, Otter Trail, in 1885; then to Seattle, Washington by 1889.
In 1889, A. Johnstone, born PEI and age 50, was a carpenter. Catherine, born New Brunswick, was 40. J. H. was age 13 and Robert 11. In the same census, Catherine's daughter Minnie was married with two sons.
In 1892, Minnie's two sons were living with Archibald and Catherine, under the name Johnstone, along with their sons Hubbard and Robert.
In the 1900 US census, Archibald and Catherine were living in Seattle. They indicated that they had been married about 1872. Catherine had had 6 children, 3 living. With them was their son Robert and two grandsons, Ewen and Artie Ford.
Archibald was a widower in the 1910 US census, and was not in the 1920 US census. His son gave him as a contact on a WW1 Registration form, which puts his death between 1917 and 1920. I was unable to find a death record for him in Washington State Digital Archives.
There was an Archibald Johnstone who died in Sedro Woolley, Skagit, Washington in March 1920, at the age of 88, but there wasn't enough detail to say whether or not it was him.
