Narrative

William B was born on 27 August 1882, the son of James Mann and Ann MacLeod. William lived with his parents at least until age 29 (1911 census), then he married the widowed Margaret Ann Hamilton McKay, the daughter of John R and Julia Hamilton. They had two children: Keith and Ethel.

According to the History of Indian River, William Mann and family moved to Indian River in 1915. They were accompanied by his mother Ann McLeod Mann, a widow, and his nephews Erskine and Elmer Mann. His mother died in 1922.

Erskine enlisted in the army in the First World War, and later moved to Toronto. William died in 1946. Until her death, his widow Margaret lived with their nephew Elmer Mann, who never married.
