Narrative

Duncan was the son of Alexander McDougall and Nancy McLean.

Duncan married Elizabeth McArthur in 1850. There was a Duncan McDougald in the 1861 census who, as a married male between 21 and 45, would fit this Duncan. There was one male between 6-15 (Cornelius) , 2 females under 5 (Sarah and Catherine), and one between 6-15 (Eleanor Anne). They were all Presbyterians, and Duncan was 5 years into his lease.

Their children were not in the PEI Baptismal Index.

In the 1881 census, living with Duncan (54) and Elizabeth (52) were: Eleanor (28), Cornelius (26), Catherine (20), Julianne (18), Mary M. (16), and Alex Bannerman (13). There was also Annie Dalton, age 6, b. New York who, with her younger sister Lilly Dalton, were identified in the 1891 census as grand-daughters. Julianne is possibly the same daughter as Winnie?

In 1891, Duncan and Elizabeth were in Lot 12 with Bannerman (age 24), daughter Eleanor McKenzie (37) and her daughters Elizabeth McKenzie (4), Annie Dalton (16) and Lillie Dalton (13).

In the 1901 census, Duncan and Elizabeth were living with their married son Bannerman.
