Notes

Note

In most Dyment genealogies, Alice Ann is said to be the daughter of Humphrey Dyment and Barbara McArthur, an error that stems back to the first editions of The Dyments by Elmer Dyment. According to corrections written up by Earle Dyment, based on the comprehensive knowledge of the PEI Dyment family of Annie Dyment Crozier, she was the daughter of Thomas and Matilda. I haven't found evidence of another Alice, and as described, the Alice who married Frank Williams was the daughter of Thomas and Matilda. In addition, Humphrey's obituary did not mention a daughter Alice, and Alice Dyment Williams was alive at the time of his death.

In the 1900 census, Alice was living with her mother Matilda in Massachusetts, working as a dress-maker. Alice Dyment, daughter of Thomas and Matilda, married Frank A. Williams, son of James W and Hattie A. Parker, on 29 July 1900 in Massachusetts. It was a second marriage for Frank. (Mass. Marriages on familysearch.org)

In the 1920 US census: Alice (age 42, born Canada), Frank and two children Roy (b. 1902, Washington) and Hattie (age 25, born Massachusetts). Hattie, born around 1894, is probably Frank's daughter from a previous marriage. In the 1930 and 1940 census records, Frank and Alice were on their own in Tacoma, Washington.

Alice Williams died in 1950. On her death certificate, her father's name is given as Thomas Dyment and her mother's name as Mary McArthur (some of Matilda's other children gave their mother's name as Mary, and it is likely her name was Mary Matilda. The McArthur part is an error - her father Thomas, but not Alice, is listed in Humphrey's obituary in 1912).
