Narrative

St. James' Episcopal Church, Port Hill, was the scene of a pleasant social event Wednesday evening, when Mr. Arthur Maynard and Miss Lulu Gorrill were united in marriage by Rev. H. Harper. The church was tastefully decorated, and the ceremony was witnessed by a large number of the friends of both parties who are very popular. The bride was given away by her grandfather, Win. Hopgood, Esq., and was attended by Elsie Gorrill, Miss Millie Brown, and Miss Lily Maynard. The groom was support ed by Mr. Ed. Monkley, Miss Louise Monkley presided at the organ. After the ceremony the wedding party had supper at the brides home, and spent a most enjoyable evening. Thursday morning Mr. and Mrs. Maynard drove to their new home In Northam, followed by the good wishes of a host of friends. June 30 1900 Guardian.

Arthur Frederick sold his farm, and he and Lulu went out west. In the 1921 census they were living in Turtle Mountain Municipality of Manitoba with John Harry, 18, Lily May, 17, Arthur Reagh, 16, Sarah Jane 14, Herman 11 and Cyril Wilfred 8.

He is survived by his [second] wife and the following children: Mrs. J. M. Beall [Josephine] Vancouver; Mrs. J. C. Neely [Sarah Jane], Harrison; Ray of Hatzic; Herman in Regina; Wilfred, Chilliwack; and Frank in Vancouver.

Josephine Maynard Beall wrote about her family in three books, one of which was Sugared Doughnuts.
