Notes

Note

Charity Jane was the daughter of John Crawford Abbott and Mary Ann Horton. I wonder if she was named for Charity Urquhardt Campbell from PEI and the Miramichi.

In 1865, she married James C. Scott, in Newcastle. m. Wednesday 27th Dec., by Rev. Wm Henderson, James C. SCOTT Rosebank / Miss Charity Jane ABBOT, Douglastown (North. Co.). Grace Scott was a witness.

James and Charity went to Maine, where some of their children were born. In the US 1870 census, they had one daughter, Emily Grace. They returned to New Brunswick by the time of the 1881 census, when they were in Upper Mills, Charlotte County, New Brunswick with Charity's father.

In the 1891 census, Minnie, Clara, Wallie, Helen, Fannie and Belle were living at home. James and Charity returned to the States.

In the 1910 US census, only Frances was living at home with her parents. In this censis, Charity said she had had 9 children, of whom 6 were living. She and James had been married for 43 years. James and Charity said they emigrated in 1872.
