m. Chatham (North. Co.) 3rd ult., by Rev. Samuel Bacon, Rector, John C. ABBOTT, Newcastle parish / Mary Ann HORTON, formerly of Fredericton parish (York Co.) [1839]. Witnesses at the marriage were brothers-in-law, Andrew Woodside and Joseph Burchill.

They were living in Prince Edward Island from about 1845- 1851. But by the time of the 1861 census of New Brunswick, the family was back in Newcastle with children Charity Jane (17), John William (12), Lemuel Horton (10), Mary Elizabeth (6), Albro Allen (4), and Leonard Thomas Mortimer (1).

Daughter Ann had married in 1861, and she, Charity Jane and Albro went to the United States. Lemuel Horton stayed in New Brunswick, and no further records could be found for John William, Mary Elizabeth, or Leonard.

After his wife died, John lived with his married daughter, Charity Jane.
